Social Security pays retirement benefits on a Wednesday based on your birth date — every single month. Try it:
Born on the 15th → you're paid the 3rd Wednesday.Next payment: Wednesday, August 19, 2026 →
If your birthday falls between the 1st and 10th of any month, your check arrives on the 2nd Wednesday.
If your birthday falls between the 11th and 20th, your check arrives on the 3rd Wednesday.
If your birthday falls between the 21st and 31st, your check arrives on the 4th Wednesday.
Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients are paid on the 1st of each month (or the last business day before if the 1st falls on a weekend or holiday). Getting benefits since before May 1997? You're paid on the 3rd of each month.
